Precision at the Core: How Exigum Ensures Accuracy with DN Solutions

When Latvian Exigum, who make machine parts for the medical, optical and industrial sectors, need to buy machines, they have a long list of requirements. Exigum produces complex parts, so the demands on precision are high.

"Delivering to these specific sectors that we have as clients, requires that we can be extremely accurate in our work. We supply parts that require a tolerance of +/- 0.004 mm, so our machines must be able to meet this requirement. And our DN Solutions machines can do that," says Kārlis Krūmiņš, CEO of Exigum.

The parts Exigum produces consist of various materials from aluminum to steel, stainless steel and tool steel to brass. This places demands on the machinery, which must be able to deliver both in terms of precision and volume.

User-friendly software

Exigum received four machines in early 2020, and in early 2022, the machine park was expanded with three more machines, including both 5-axis machining centers and multi-axis lathes.

“We have chosen DN Solutions machines because they can do what they need to, at a reasonable price. We consider DN Solutions to be a brand in line with the best in the industry, so the choice was not difficult,” says Kārlis Krūmiņš.

Exigum has chosen controls based on FANUC software, and according to the CEO, this is due to the high degree of user-friendliness.

“At the same time, FANUC is quite widespread in the Baltics, so for many operators, it is easy to use the controls,” says Kārlis Krūmiņš.
