How we work
That’s why we’re happy to take responsibility for making sure everything works: from the initial dialogue about a new machine, to the day it enters production at your plant. We call this the Duroc Machine Tool Model.
Our aim is to complete delivery and installation – and to provide training for your employees – within 14 days for new machines that we have in stock (and we have plenty!). It’s an ambitious goal, but we’re not afraid to put ourselves under a bit of pressure; it helps keep us sharp, and the sharper we are, the more value we can generate for you. When all is said and done, it all comes down to performance.
Initial dialogue
The first step towards a successful outcome is to define precisely which machine is the right choice for you. We openly discuss the components you want the machine to process in your production set-up, and on the basis of your needs and your budget, we present what we consider to be the best option for you.
On rare occasions, it may turn out that the best move for you is to choose a product other than those we can supply. If this is the case, we tell you directly as we have no interest whatsoever in palming you off with something you don’t need. Our only goal is to help you make the right choice, because we have no doubt that this is the only way to go in an industry where credibility and professionalism are what separate the real deal from the wannabes.
Reference visits and quality assurance
Once we have jointly identified the machine that can add the greatest value to your business, we invite you along on a reference visit to one of our existing customers so you can see similar machines in action and talk to the people who actually work with them on a daily basis.
We also offer to conduct time studies, test cuts, component simulations and test processing to assure that the machine you have chosen lives up to the quality requirements and the expectations you, as a customer, have. After all, you need to be sure that your investment in a new machine is financially attractive with the potential to generate the desired return in the long term.
At the end of the day, however, it is all about bringing some machines online so that the wheels of your business keep turning, helping you to take your performance to the next level. We fully respect that aim, so we always prioritise commencing the actual work quickly so as to make an efficient contribution to the process, for your benefit and that of your production.
Entering into a cooperation agreement
Once you have decided that Duroc Machine Tool is the ideal partner for you, we sign a cooperation agreement. We offer financial advice and can arrange an introduction to one of our partners if you prefer to lease your new machine rather than buying it outright.
We also present our range of tool packs and accessories – such as coolant – to ensure you have the best possible conditions for starting production on your new machine from the moment it is installed.
Finally, we lay out the numerous benefits of taking out a service contract or entering into a preventative maintenance agreement (link to service contract), and we also discuss your and your colleagues’ training requirements, before putting together a package that neatly aligns with your current needs.
Delivery and installation
Prior to the installation of your new machine, you will receive a delivery document containing all relevant information about the actual installation process. The document also explains what you need to have prepared and made ready before the delivery date.
We focus on the fundamental practical details; for example, we assess whether it is necessary to pour a concrete foundation for the machine, or to drill holes in an existing concrete floor. We also check the electrical installation, access conditions, unloading options, the size of the delivery entrance and other potential obstacles – all with a view to making sure the process runs as smoothly as possible.
When the machine is ready for delivery, a crane may be needed to manoeuvre it into position, and this is a task that needs to be coordinated with you and your colleagues. It is also likely that the new machine will have to be connected to other machines and/or equipment you already use in your production set-up, and it must likewise be prepared to interact with your LAN and CAM programming equipment.
To finish the process, the machine is readied for use – transport brackets removed, protective oil wiped off, etc. – after which it is ready for alignment and the final quality check.
Conclusion of the project
Once the installation work has been completed, we instruct you and your colleagues in how to operate and maintain the machine. In some cases, our application technician will actually process the first components jointly with the operator.
You can be sure that we will only leave when the machine is operating smoothly. Not before. This is something we do to ensure we always live up to our motto: simply better performance.
